Course Overview
Shorthand is completely phonetic and is based on curves and lines of varying lengths, written on lined paper. Shorthand is an efficient transcribing method that transfers audible content to written symbols. Shorthand skills have long been crucial to professional occupations, especially in the legal and medical fields where speed and accuracy are paramount to the dissemination of information.
At the end of this course students will be able to:
- Understand the basic rules of Pitman Shorthand in terms of line strokes/ thickness and curves
- Write short forms without hesitation
- Transcribe phrases with ease
- Transcribe from dictation passages read at 80 to 120 WPM.
